Choosing the business idea
I investigated skincare, school technology kits, gym accessories and jewellery. I chose jewellery because it suited an online store, offered a wide product range and could be sold at student-friendly prices.
BEHIND THE BUSINESS
This page documents how I researched, planned, created and tested Elvarune Jewellery for my Workplace Practices practical investigation.
STEP BY STEP
I used primary research, secondary research, planning and testing to make decisions. Each stage produced evidence that can be included in the assessment appendix.
I investigated skincare, school technology kits, gym accessories and jewellery. I chose jewellery because it suited an online store, offered a wide product range and could be sold at student-friendly prices.
I surveyed 103 students to learn what they buy online, how much they spend and what makes them trust a store. Jewellery and accessories received 36 selections. Most respondents normally spent under $50.
Quality was the strongest product factor, receiving 98 selections. Customer reviews, secure payments and a clear return policy were the main trust factors. The results showed that Elvarune needed clear information, fair prices and a professional design.
I compared Nihao Jewelry, Angels Whisper and Aumora. I considered product cost, material, delivery and expected profit. I selected Aumora because its products use 316L stainless steel, resist water and tarnishing, and ship from Melbourne.
I selected ten Aumora products: five gold and five silver. The range includes necklaces, earrings and bracelets priced from $29.99 to $36.99. This gives customers different styles while keeping every item below $40.
I created the name Elvarune Jewellery and used a gold, silver, cream and black colour scheme. I developed a working online store with product filters, a shopping bag, delivery information and a test checkout.
The website was tested by completing sample transactions and checking the shopping process. Tester feedback focused on the professional appearance, simple checkout, gold and silver choices, clear product details and free-delivery offer.
FINAL DECISIONS
A balanced range of five gold and five silver products for students and young adults.
Selected for 316L stainless steel, Australian shipping and stronger expected quality.
Prices match the survey finding that most students normally spend under $50 online.
The website focuses on product material, reviews, delivery and a professional appearance.
THE RESULT
The final website contains the ten chosen products and a working test checkout.
